AIX/perts,

i got these combinations for modem setup on RAN:

TTY tty2
TTY type tty
TTY interface rs232
Description Asynchronous Terminal
Status Available
Location 10-78-22-00
Parent adapter sa2
PORT number [0]
Enable LOGIN enable
BAUD rate [19200]

PARITY [none]
BITS per character [8]
Number of STOP BITS [1]
TIME before advancing to next port setting [0]
TERMINAL type [dumb]
FLOW CONTROL to be used [rts]

PROBLEM:

1. i was able to call the number but lost the tone after 2 rings.

2. modem won't answer back - can't establish connection.

any suggestions/ideas?

additional info:

i was able to "cu -ml tty2" the said modem and got response.
 
try using xon/xoff flow control. Also, if you force carrier, it will more than likely keep the session established, but you might loose the ability to drop DTR after you drop the modem connection. Meaning if you abruptly hung up the modem, when there was an active shell running, the shell stays active. The next person who dials the number just drops in on the previous shell session.

right now i'm working on it....i was able to established connection with the modem but still not have the login screen.

 
i got it right.... finally!

i need to "cu -ml tty#", then changed buffer (&B0) & flow control (&H0) options from 0 to 1, then saved.

you have to setup your modem possibly to a much higher baud rate (i used 57600, i'm using USRobotics 56K faxmodem).
