i have a AP400 pc and win 2000 installed. Previously it works ok. but on one occassion, i changed the settings on either the browser and or the modem settings ( i cant remember )to prevent my kid literarily sleeping on the net while i was at work..... now i cant remember what i did.

modem not working

Usually, if you want to stop your kids being on the net all day, you simply set your modem to ask for the password and don't tell anyone else what the password is.
Is there any activity at all?

Try deleting the old dialup routine and use the Wizard to create a new one...
