Help

I have an XP Pro PC and have had the following problems:

1. Modem worked fine this morning.
2. Updated a SAGE Payroll Accounts Application.
3. Attempting to dial on modem and am told Modem is not initialized.
4. Reinstall drivers for HAYES External Modem.
5. Still no luck.
6. Checked all cables on Modem.
7. Still no luck.
8. Changed Modem-Phoneline cable.
9. Still no luck.
10. Disconnected and uninstalled Modem.
11. Installed a new INTEL Internal Modem.
12. Still no luck.
13. Telephoned BT to test phoneline. BT confirm phoneline is OK.
14. Try again. Still no luck.

During the installation and reinstallation of the 2 Modem's Windows found the Modem's ASAP, but was slow and sometimes nonresponsive in installing the drivers.

Can anyone help?

hey there, to troubleshoot a modem problem such as this one, there are a lot of details the user needs to offer. For instance do you get an error message at all? does it "try" to dial. how many times does it try to dial before it poops out? im thinking an initialzation code will be necessary, but with out the proper information about the modem it is hard to distinguish what code would work best for the modem. also find out the modulation type of the modem and also chip sets, all you have supplied was the manufacturer of the modem (intel) and make sure you have latest firmware and drivers installed. that would help a lot as well.
