OK I'm on cable broadband and my modem keeps sending out dns resolution requests to my ISP's dns server. And I mean every second! Sniffer is reporting "standard query ptr [ip address]" followed by the response. The ip address is different everytime but they seem to belong to either client.hopone.net or superb.net
I can't see any reason or program asking for these IP addresses.

Can anybody tell me why this is happening.

Stab in the dark but I wonder if you've got some malware active on your machine.

I'd recommend upgrading/installing your AV software and Spyware software and see if the DNS queries are still going on.

If you haven't got this kind of software on your machine then you can run some online checks as below:

Alternatively there are some free ones out there. A lot of people like AVG for AV detection and I like Ad-Aware for spyware detection.

Hope this helps
