Hi,
I'm using OS5.0.6 on a P4 (X206) with a very simple dial-in modem link on tty1a or 2a. After modems were connected, I enable the port to send login. As soon as the login is sent, the modem hang-up.
This basic process is ok on 5.0.5 for a long time and on 5.06 on PIII.
The P4 server is patched with OSS636a, OSS648a et RS506A.

Any idea?
Thanks.

Sounds like a dropped DTR. Since this is a new motherboard, the com-port may be behaving differently than your previous machines. Have you configured the modem on the sco end to ignore DTR? You might also check your gettydefs.

Is there a reason why you haven't set up the modem for normal dialin instead of this manual port activation method?

Well, I try on two servers yesterday (PIII and PIV) and
I supposed the second part of the RS506A is the cause of
this behaviour of the com port. The problem occur just after
the 2nd part of RS506A was installed.
This patch change getty, gettydefs, sio ++ humm humm...

Unfortunetly,I must still using this old method of port activation because one app on the server is very old and no longer supported! And ofthis app using this type of activation.

Looks like two modems connect by default,
but when port is opened it receives parameters from
/etc/gettydefs and drops because conflict of modes.
Check word by word parameters in corresponding line
of /etc/gettydefs of 5.0.6 and 5.0.5.
This file is not guaranteed to be unchanged between versions, like, say, shell scripts.
Do not allow chain of lines for different speeds.

Procedure you use is a little agains the Unix logic. First should be port opening, then parameter tuning,
THEN modem interconnections, then login process start.
Nevertheless if it runs in 5.0.5 it should run somehow in 5.0.6. Stankow,
