Hello. Cables, ISP, software... Everything is fine.

It's a unlimited service, then I'm supposed to be able to connect anytime. My connection works from 6am to 6pm, but after 6pm it simply doesn't connect. The modem makes some noise and the dialer results just a "no response from server" error. I've seen two theads at other forums about the same issue, but they couldn't solve this problem.

Any idea? Please don't tell me to check cables or software, I've tested all of it, even changed the OS hour. By the way, the connection worked well at a random week after this problem started, but now it's really dead from 6pm to 6am.

pretty old message, but, this could totally be related to which telco circuits you are traversing. I don't know what residential telephone utilization statistics look like, but I would guess that after 6pm you end up utilizing sub-standard circuits to call your ISP (of course, through no fault of your own).

I would try:

-finding different access numbers (if you have a national ISP with lots of 800 numbers, give it a try) to see if they work during the 'dead period'

-feeding your modem an init string to slow it down, making the connection more reliable (also not allowing the modem to even attempt to negotiate a high speed connection). I remember that the load-coils/multiplexers used by the telco to build out more voice capacity in some areas prevent you from negotiating v90/v92 (~56K speeds) and will only allow v34 (~33.6K speeds). This is due to the way the circuits are 'chopped-up' to service more homes. I think it could be possible that your post-6PM calls are traversing a path that could be like this.
