modem disabled on laptop ?

I upgraded my Compaq laptop from Win98 to Win 2000 but ever since the installation i can't get the modem to work. It's a buil in modem wich worked fine under Win98 but Win2000 disabled it in the Bios ??? What can i do about this ?

Check Compaq for an updated Win2000 driver, the Win98 drivers usually won't work. Also, check

for drivers for the modem.
