How can I control my modem (connected to COM4 ), so that I can receive & send my own data through it.
Also, what is the actual port NUMBER of COM4
 
I think instead of port no. , you mean the base address(0xef) & the interrupt no. used by the com4. Otherwise it's the same RS232 standard that's being followed, thus the same 'at' command-set would be used & in windows it assign both the things automatically & 'at' commands can be given in the advanced option in modem properties.

Basically it depends what you wanna do with it ?
