My home PC was working fine, until one day I was downloading a file, but it took too long, so I cancelled the download (it never finished) and turned off the computer.

Nex time I tried to navigate I found this problem. I can connect my modem to my ISP (even tried diferent ISP's), and I can run Messanger and chat. But when I try to navigate with IE I cannot find any web site. It seems that IE is ignoring my modem connection =(. I can ping the sites, but the browser can reach them.

1) Clear your chache (i.e. blow out your history, cookies, and temporary internet files)

2) That failing, try the LSP fix:

Failing carr's advice, repair your Winsock service:
