This is a residential question... I recently moved, having used my D-link DI-614+ router for a year and a half without any problems, until now. I switched ISP, along with it my modem. Previously using a Motorola Surfboard now using a Scientific Atlantic "webstar". The problem...my modem and router will work fine for a week or two and then no communication between the two. The router will not pick up an IP and will time out. I've tried cycling both, and nothing. The only thing I've found to work is waiting. I disconnected the router for several weeks and left the router off. I decided I would try it again and it worked, for several days, until now. I've tried contacting D-Link, and the best they can do is to tell me "try cycling the power, again". I'm running XP pro sp2, with all new updates and firmware for router. Any help is appreciated, thanks

Ok questions

Are you allowing Windows XP to configure your network?

Are you using Windows XP Firewall Protection?

Have you thought about obtaining a static IP from your ISP?

After those questions are you telling your router to obtain IP and DNS automatically from your ISP? And did you tell your router to emulate your MAC address of your NIC on the computer?

Let me know, hopefully this is an easy fix.
