Hi,

Is there a way to run the model.xml file so that it is useable/readable as technical documentation.

Thx for your input!!

Cheers,

MissReportNet

Hi MissReportNet,

You are in luck. I just completed researching this very thing.

Let me just plainly state, CRN bites the big one with regard to providing any useable metadata or documentation.

You can do the following, but the output will take you forever to format it so that it is readable:

1. Open your Model.xml file using MS Excel 2003 (Parses XML)

Next two options:

2. Pay $36,000 for Netvisn from I've researched this, it's only good if you are looking
for a web based documenation solution. It has no export
capability. I mentioned to the sales guy I spoke with
that I couldn't believe that at that price exporting
was an "enhancement request."

3. Hire a Cognos consultant with SDK experience to write a
program to output the metadata in a useable format.

If anyone else knows some secret to getting this accomplished quickly, cheaply and effectively, let me know.

I have reverted to using Excel and a manual process because the client I am working for is cheap.

Hope that answers your question. :)
