Does anyone knows how does mod_gzip affect search engines
indexing the site. For example, does Google uses gunzip to
decode stuff comming from sites using mod_gzip.
I have got some 90% decreese in file transfer size by using
mod_gzip.

I believe mod_gzip only compresses output when delivering to an agent that can accept gzipped compression. Thus any other client will just receive standard text output. The easiest way to test this is turn mod_gzip on for your webserver, then use an old, text-mode browser to connect to the website. From Linux or Unix, try Lynx, wget, etc, or if you are knowledgeable enough about HTTP, you can just connect to port 80 on your webserver through Telnet, and manually issue your GET requests with headers, and the text will scroll past. -------------------------------------------
