i have recently been given an Asrock K7 Upgrade 600 motherboad which in theory works all ok eccept one small problem. When i plug the power lead into the power supply the CPU fan comes on and the (red) hard disk light stays on. When i switch the power button the green light comes on and nothing happens until i press the reset button which will then let me startup the computer and then load windows.
i have tried powering up the motherboard with nothing connected at all eccept the power supply and i took off all the front panel connectors but still that CPU fan spins endlessly. i have also tried 3 other good working power supplys and i have the same problem.
any help or advice would be much appreciated. thanks

I used to have a Ford Falcon that you had to lift up the door handle about an inch to get the window to roll down [smile]

Seriously you could try resetting BIOS to "optimal defaults" and/or see if there is a newer BIOS available.

I dont think this is a bios problem, but I could be wrong.

I think this is a whiring prob. you should check the the wiring harness for the hdd access light, power light, power button etc to macke sure they are connected to the proper header on the mobo. You'll have to get a copy of the mobo schematic to do this

Also, cool header wiring harnesses, etc can be obtained at

Yup, my first thought was to double check the case-mobo wiring. Check it out and see if any need to be reversed.
