Hello, first post here.

I recently bought a 5900xtoc vid card made by BFG, it works fine in the system I had running then - Abit kg7 raid - ath 1800... Now more recently I bought a P4 and an Asus p4c800-e delux. The problem is this, the newest system (Asus) won't power on with the 5900 in it. I threw in an old gforce2 mx with the Asus board and it works fine. So basically all my parts are good, its not the powor supply either, its just the 5900 and the p4c800 aren't happy together. Any thoughts on this?

much thanks

Have you attached the secondary power cable to the video card? If so, is the wattage of your power supply sufficient?

Secondary power cable? There is just he one I believe, and my p/w is 420 so I'm guessing its enough.

Yes, I was referring to the one power cable. I called it secondary since video cards normally get their power from the AGP slot, and yours requires the extra cable. I would assume, as you did, that 420W is plenty. I check the specs on your m/b and video card, and both support 4x, so I'm sorry to say I don't have further information for you. I hope someone else can assist. Best of luck.

Despite your faith in the fitted 420watt unit I would still try plugging in a differant PSU as the fault you describe does sound power related.
