Hi Guys,

In the spirit of learning lots of developer type things, i'm intersted in site construction for view on mobile phones and mobile devices.

Basicly i have a customer who i'm developing a knowledge base for. I'll like to propose to them that we also make the Knowledge Base accesible from mobile devices, so thier clients will be able to access support information regardless of where they are.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Rob

While I haven't done any mobile development, I think I can safely say there are some things you can do to make your site compatible with as many devices as possible:

- don't use frames

- don't use tables for layout

- don't rely on javascript

- don't use images for menus (especially where the images simply contain text!)

- don't make your site image intensive

If you can follow those, I think you're probably 85% of the way there.

Hope this helps,
Dan

I think a good one is also not to use a fixed size site. Try to work with fluid designs, they will translate much better to mobile phones.

Those are all great suggestions thank you guys, my "mobile" section of the knowledge base is driven from a database so it wont take me long to knock up a template to work well with mobile devices.

Thanks,

Rob
