I have a watchguard firebox in front of my office network which is working fine as a firewall - I want to start allowing remote VPN connections from sales staff who use win2k pc's with various dial up internet conections - what measures should I take to ensure that their machines are secure while connected to the VPN - I assume my connection then becomes only as secure as the security on the remote PC?

You assume correctly. You are only as secure as your weakest link. If you use WG's MUVPN client, it is bundled with Zone Alarm's free software firewall. This is a nice (and needed) addition when using VPN if another firewall is not already present.

If you are using PPTP, again, you can download Zone Alarm's free firewall. It might be a little confusing for user's to work with, but if initially setup and configured, the confusion should be minimal with some explanation what it is doing.
