I am trying to get my mobile users up to speed. Have completed the offline folder setup so users have contacts, calendar, e-mails, etc. Now want users to be able to respond to e-mails and compose e-mails, only to send or receive when they make a connection through dial-up to our ISP. Any assistance. It appears that they are unable to resolve the username with the exchange server through the dial in. HELP!

Are you trying to use an Exchange profile over the internet? If so, are you using a VPN solution? If not, that'll be an issue. If you are not using a VPN solution, try setting up an internet e-mail account in outlook for each mobile user. Then, in the servers tab, specify your server as the POP3 server (provided you exchange server is set up for it). It's best to specify the ISP for the SMTP server (in my experience, our SMTP has always been a tad flaky). If your exchange server isn't set up for POP3, you have a couple of options. Enable POP3 on your exchange server (can't remember if that requires a rebuild or not), enable "Outlook web Access" (we have this running, and it's great. No special profiles needed, just a web browser), or set up a VPN solution to get your mobile personell "in-house" (or at least appear to be). We currently use all three options. I prefer the Outlook Web Access and VPN solutions, personally (a lot less hassles. Everything is stored on the server, and the user still can have off-lline folders.)

I'm trying to do the same thing with our server but we have Exchange 2000 Server and we are trying to get our mobile users using Outlook 2000 trying to connect to our exchange servers but they use their own ISP's

Or, you can impliment Outlook Web Access.. run through the Exchange setup again, select custom, and install it. This will allow your users to access the server over the Internet ... of course, you must be connected to the internet, and be able to access your server from it (using ip address) ..

Good LK
