I have a customer that is using the mobile twinning feature and for the most part they are very happy with it. I have it set up to send the original calling party info so they can see who is calling and decide weather they wanna answer it or not. The topic came up of not knowing if a cell phone call was twinned or if someone was calling there cell phone directly. To my knowledge there is no way of knowing if a call is twinned or dialed directly when answering remotely and system set to send original calling party info. Is there a way to have both options, knowing the call is twinned and having the calling party's caller ID?

Thanks

You could alter the CLI, putting a prefix on the CLI for example.
But why should it make a difference which number they called?

If they don't want work calls off hours they could either DND, forward the extension to VM or have a time profile for the twinning.

Janni78,

I have a time profile set so they can only get calls during normal business hours, not in off hours. I agree it should not make a difference but they are requesting it. I don't see how I can alter the CLI, could you please explain?

It's not really practical to do it since you can't dial the number back anyhow.
Only time I ever agreed on doing it was when they needed to see if it was a huntgroup call or not.

When I receive my twinned calls, it comes from my office number - so I know it's being twinned.

Against the line tab, there is a check box: "Send original calling party for forwarded and twinning calls."
Uncheck it.
The industry term is called 'SIP spoofing'. Some locale's carriers don't allow it. I've never seen it operating!

You should have a box where you can enter the number that you want to present on twinned and forwarded calls. Enter an unused DID there and then the customer will know that it is:
A: a twinned call
B: Not a call from a colleague in the office.
