have been playing with the mobile extension client a little.

is there way to force the mobile extension server to dial a prefix if you dialled an external PSTN number from you mobile phone using the mobile extension facility?

the 9 to access a line field under the system options on the mobile extension server, is used only for office link not dialling directly.

example, a user wants to dial from his mobile phone phone book. just dialling doesn't work cause there's no prefix, also just dialling the number has the same outcome.

weird that this isn't supported as far as I'm concerned.

If you don't mind me asking how are the mobile clients dialing via the 3300 if they are not using office link? Thought that was the only way a mobile client could tell the Mobile Ext server to dial a number?

I can't think of any way to do what you want other then through ARS changes. I believe ME dials to cell phones etc via the fake sets you program in the 3300 to use as "out lines". If ME needs to ring the cell phone ( external number ) with a desk phone, it makes an outgoing call to the cell using dial 9. You want those same fake sets to be able to dial an external number without using 9 if trigger by a mobile phone. Do I understand you right or am I confused?

I was under the impression that really the mobile ap WAS officelink really. It's just they added a gui to it for lan users too. So that External prefix IS for the client

Cut from help file:

In the Dialing Prefix for External Call field, enter the number that first needs to be dialed for an external PSTN call (typically "9"). This number is used by the Mobile Client software when specifying PSTN numbers to dial using the Mobile Extension OfficeLink feature.

I was referring to using office link via the web interface on the mas server - when a user logs into IP/mobile/user

on further testing, this too doesn't work.

Loopyou, you pretty much have it right however as per helpfile (Mitelmatt's post) this should work due to config settings under options. It doesn't though. I have set the access prefix and mobile extension length.

Mitelmatt you are right the mobile phone basically is officelink in a way.

I've logged a call with 3rd line. I'm hoping they can help.

Thanks,
