have a boss who wants to access ALL of Outlook's features in and out of the office with his laptop. What is the easiest way to connect to Exchange from wherever he is in the country and still get access to advanced features such as calendar sharing. I was thinking VPN, but it just seems to hang and we are always getting a "server not available" error. (even when we hardset the dns in the host and lmhost files on the laptop, which we then have to remove when he comes back in the office). The server name and user name will resolve, and then we get the error, so we are getting some connectivity, just nothing reliable. I wonder how these exchange hosting companies are doing it. Any help?
As much as I want my boss on a VPN, he justs wants "simple". And I dont think these Exchange hosts are requiring VPN........sigh

As a side note....I have a hard time with user profiles and laptops. My boss hates seeing a different profile when he is traveling and not connected to the domain...any ideas where I can find more info on managing mobile users profiles?

First off, I think VPN is your solution. If your boss can do without Tasks and Journal in Outlook, then OWA would be the best bet...BUT if your boss is anything like mine, he wants to be able to "draft" emails in Outlook (like on an airplane) and send those out when he gets dialed into the Server...so that is why I chose the VPN solution for my company. VPN and security is something you will have to research and choose on your own, depending on what type of security your network has in place. (Firewall, ISA, etc.)
Good Luck.
