I just bought a Microsoft MN-720 wireless router. I setup the router right and everything works perfect on the wireless end. But for some reason my wired computers(anything pluged into the router with a Cat 5 wire) doesn't work. Well, It works for like 1 mintue then it seems to just fall on it's face. It won't start working again till I reset the router. Then it only works for like a minute again. But on my labtop(wireless), Everything seems to work great. I have SBC DSL. I'm using POPPPE to contect to it. So here is how me setup looks

INTERNET-----SBC Speedstream modem------Microsoft router---computer.

My labtop is using XP and I think every other computer on my wired network uses win 2k.

Does it have anything to do with my MAC address? IS the router defective??

I'm lost here, a little help plz!

1. Make sure you are not plugged into the "Uplink" port on the back of the router;

2. Is your computer set to "Obtain an IP address automaticly" ?

Check all the addresses by right-clicking the network icon in the Task Tray, Status, Support. If you see 169.x.x.x types of addresses and the DNS entries are empty there is a problem with either your ethernet cable, your TCP/IP settings, your NIC drivers, your NIC or the router itself.

When the internet connection stops can you ping the router? Can you ping another workstation?

The modem is plugged into the uplink on the router. All other computers use the "Hub" part.

All computers use DCHP

I don't lose my network connection, just Interent drops. Remember, this is only the computers using the wire.

Everything setup wireless works fine.
