Mercator version 6.5 exports the data maps in xml format and in this file it specifies a DOCTYPE MMS System as mms.dtd ... I can't seem to find this anywhere. Does anyone have a copy of this and or know where I can find it?

Try contacting IBM, but 6.5 is a bit out of date.

I wanted to load the xml file and edit it into word but word is complaining that it wants the mms.dtd file. I suspect there is some header info in this file which is used for formating the xml file.

I tried to move some rules around and reload the xml file back into mercator but mercator wasn't happy with the changes I made so not sure if this is advisable to do ... basically mercator 6.5 doesn't have an insert index ... there is a add index ... so in order to insert an index the index loops have to be manually copied to open up an index to place the new index ... I was thinking I would just have to renumber the rule array values in the xml file and reload the file.

Mercator added the new index at the end of the rules;

loop/index [1] is rule 145
loop/index [2] is rule 159
loop/index [3] is rule 173
loop/index [8] is rule 582

What I tried to do is swap the index from 3 -> 8 and 8 -> 3

when mercator reloaded this modified file rule 3 disappeared

They should be in Mercator6.5\Examples\mapimportexport\dtd. However, there are bugs in the dtds. You will need to get updated files from support. I raised a fault for them but I can't remember the fault number.
