I’m looking to give about a dozen people in the company the ability to change passwords for the users in there departments. I’ve had a try making different standalone snap-ins with just a password reset button. I’m looking for suggestion or links to helpful information thanks everyone.

Simplest way is to just create OU's for their departments and delegate them with password change authority only. They can just ignore the other options and even if they tried anything else it wouldn't work regardless.

Davetoo - how can you create an OU with pwd change privilege only?

Right Click the container in Active Directory?

When you create the OU and go through delegation of it you'll be presented with the options available for delegation. I haven't done it in a while, but I believe you can choose only password reset.

The OUs for all the departments have already been created. So i have a list of about 20 OU departments and i need to give one person per OU access to change active directory passwords in there department.

How would i go about installing the bare minimum admin tools to there systems?

I've created the new OU for each Dept - when I go to Start/Run/MMC/Add snap-in - Active Directory is not available.

What am I doing wrong?
