MM4.0 running SP 2 - patch 1

not seeing MM uninstallation wizard in add / remove programs - trying to remove SP 2 and load SP 3

about avaya modualr messaging showing as SP 2 patch 1

build 7.2.696.6


build would be 7.2.696.3 if just running SP 2

logged into 3 other MM4.0 systems and I see MM unistallation wizard - this SP and patch were installed back in 2008 when first installed and we have not tried to remove until now - I can see the SP and patch in about modular messaging as well as in programs / avaya modular messaging / patche catche

just an odd issue all around

That is weird. I wish that I checked our patch level before going to SP3.

Not sure why you wouldn't have the MM Uninstallation wizard.

You don't need to remove SP2 before running the MM400300.exe executable. Part of the install process of SP3 checks for prior patches. It will display prior patches and prompt you. Check out step 6 from the release notes:

6. You will be prompted to uninstall any patches that are already on the system prior to this software update. Choose Continue to remove these patches. If prompted for a Restart after the last patch is removed, select Restart and allow the system to reboot and continue to step 7. Otherwise the system will detect that a restart is not necessary and the service pack will automatically install. Follow remaining instructions and continue to step 9.

You may not see the MM Uninstallation Wizard in the Add/Remove Programs list if you are not logged into the machine with the same account that installed it (typically the MM service account).

Like Chuck said the SP3 actually removes previous patches before it can apply SP3.
