We have a MM3.1 w/exch 2003 that has been running fine without issue but the customer is converting their exchange store to 2007 in getting ready for this we have removed the SP1 that was loaded and as I recall you could use any Service Pack 2 or greater we loaded SP9 as SP2 and higher supported exch 2007 as any version prior need the MM31Exch2007 patch to support 2007 –

When accessing the Modular Messaging tab via AD / User we are getting a license quota exceeded error – they have 45 or so users and may have added some users but they are no way near the 101 license limit the only thing that looks odd is that I can not access certain functions within the VMSC config under the VMDOM I can not access :

Web Subscriber options
Serviceability
Licensing

Getting the following widow popping up :

Failed to retrieve configuration data

please check that you are trying to administer a different version
of Modular Messaging with this version of the configuration tool

( 80070422 )

This then would make sense with the license error as I am unable to open the VMSC/Licensing

The system is off line and seeing messages stored in spool as they can not get to its peer mail server ( exch 2003 ) the IT provider says nothing has changed as they have not moved any mailboxes over to exch 2007

In looking at the VMSC I see they have added the exch 2007 to the domain as I see it as a valid messaging server in the VMSC / VMDOM / Messaging / Server tab and I still see the correct peer store

Not seeing any 1319 ( off line ) errors in events so its on-line with its Peer Mail Server

I have asked that they check permissions as there was an issue with send as awhile ago where in you could see your peer mail as on-line but messages stacked in the spool as the call answer messages could not be delivered

Tried removing the SP9 and rebooted

Same issue

Loaded back old SP and patches and rebooted

Same issue

Just curious about the VMSC issue with not be able to see licensing

Cheers : )

something is really off with this system as I can not even change a simple password option 4 then option 9 - VMSC is set for

" number of previous passwords disallowed " - 1 so I should be able to enter any password but 1234

default value when mailbox is enabled as defined in VMSC / TUI / Subscriber

initial password for new mailboxes :

default : default password 1234

entering any combo comes back as incorrect as if its already used -

I have had to do FEDB rebuilds in the past for password issues but this one is odd .....

IT provider says they have checked send as permissions - assigned as it should be

I then removed the 3 external callers in the Octel container as defined in PSN799U - rebooted MAS

external caller - CHMAS01

external caller - CHMAIL01 ( peer mail store )

external caller - CHMAIL02 ( this is the exch 2007 )

left alone the BDL ( group ) and OctelVMD ( user ) in Octel Container

now just seeing the 2 external callers - not seeing my peer mail external caller ??

external caller - CHMAS01

external caller - CHMAIL02

not sure why it would not populate the CHMAIL01 - external caller

can this be added via manual ?

You will not see an External Caller (ExchangeServerName) account built for the Peer Exchange server as that is not needed unless some other MM server that is not peered to said Exchange server needs to monitor said Exchange server.

External Caller (MASname) is used for monitoring and delivering messages from.

If you only have 1 MM server or all your MM servers are pointed to the same Exchange server then there is no need for an External Caller (PeerExchangeServerName) account.
