Hi Everyone,

I've been playing with the web client for Modular Messaging. I've got a problem with messages accumulating in the deleted folder.

We're running the web client (3.0.0.46) on a dedicated server and have MM 3.0 with (2) MAS and an Avaya MSS.

I've noticed that messages placed in the "saved" folder in the web client are aged out according to the assigned COS, but the messages in the "deleted" folder just seem to accumulate. Eventually, this will fill the mailbox and prevent further use.

I've looked in the the admin part of the client software and on the client itself for an option to purge the deleted files, but didn't see any. There is an option to warn before deletions on the client, but that's only if the user manually deletes files. Did I miss something simple? Thanks.

Scott

What are your subscriber options set for under deleted messages?

Hi Ken,

Are you talking about the WSO (Web Subscriber Options)?? If so, under message options, mailbox action, the box for "Delete messages on exit" is checked.

The help text seems to say that you have to remove the deleted folder manually.

Note: Web Client tracks your mailbox usage in the upper left corner of the application, if you have folders displayed. When your mailbox is 85% to 100% full, you should begin deleting messages and emptying your Deleted folder to create more room in your mailbox. To empty your Deleted folder, right-click on the folder, and click Empty Folder.

That's what I've been doing (manually emptying the contents of the deleted folder). I would have hoped that a system as sophisticated as Modular Messaging could handle the simple task of purging deleted files without the aid of the user.

Thanks for your reply.

You are right but the help doc said to look at the % your mailbox is in use and remove the messages from the deleted folder to clear out space. On the upside they can always go back and get the message if they need to. If you are using GSM and 16.4 meg per mailbox with 15,000 hours of message space that is a lot of messages.

I found that as soon as it is accessed via the TUI then the Deleted folder will get emptied.
