A local municipal gov't office just built a new fire station, and only had singlemode fiber ran between their phone system at their central office and the new site.

They're currently running a MICS R1T1 with NAM 4.0, and will have to upgrade to XC to add a sta mod, but that's another issue...

I'd rather drive the new ext's over a fiber extender, than go VOIP. Does anyone know of a SM to MM converter that would let me use a fiber extender?

Thanks, fellas.

I should have thought to call FIS, anyway. One stop shopping for fiber.

Suprise- FIS doesn't carry them.

hawks- Have you used the converters from arcelectronics? I've got a quote from them for a converter that'll handle up to 165M, but I've never used them before. Most manufacturers assume you're going to use them for data. I just want to make sure they'll work in conjunction with MCK fiber extenders.

I finally got a response from Citel's Tech support.

For their MCK fiber extenders, if you've gotta use single mode fiber, they recommend Transition Network's F-SM-MM-05.

Thanks, all, for your input.
