MM secondary extension error

I want to use the secondary extension in modular messaging for one admin person to use to retrieve voice mail from two phones assigned to her, instead of her having to check two voice mail boxes daily. The person is changing their number to a new extension number. I want the phone to have a bridged number button to her old extension for 30 days …This will allow here to tell the people calling the old number to call the new number. I would like to use the secondary extension option in modular messaging, so that she can have all the calls go to her primary extension voice mail box. But when I add in the secondary extension in the “secondary extension” field in MM it tells me that a secondary ext may not match another pbs or secondary extension (1505). Is this feature possible or am I doing something wrong?

The secondary extension being assigned cannot already be assigned to an existing subscriber. You will have to change the existing subscriber to a new temporary number or remove the subscriber all together. Then you can assign the number as a secondary extension to your admin person.

here’s how I tackled this:

• Delete the old mailbox (1234)
• Add “1234” as a Secondary Extension to 2345
• Calls coming in to 1234 or 2345 would go to mailbox, 2345.
• Callers would hear the same greetings on either
