Hi:

We've been approved for equipment renewal and my supervisor asked me to look into the possibility of converting our MM system from the Avaya Store to Exchange. I'm trying to find documentation that does a comparison between the two systems. But I'm also looking for individuals who may have changed from Avaya to Exchange to find out what complications may be, what impact this would have to our users, and if any data is portable from the existing system to the new system. We are currently at Version 3.0., with 2 MAS'.

Thank you,

Not that you would have any complications but going to a different backend would basically be like a new installation. So you would have 2 voicemail systems at one point.
You could use OAN (Octel Analog Networking, only if you are using Exchange 2000/2003 as the backend) to forward messages from the MSS system to the new system (which might need MN, can't remember). This would require the subscribers to do this, but just saying it is a possibility.
Impact to the users IMO would only be training. The TUI functions are the same, but now it would include the ability to read back emails. They would also be getting their voicemails into their Exchange Inbox. Which your exchange systems may need to be looked at so that they can accomodate this new system as well as the load of the more messages to it.
