MM 5.x w/Lotus Notes Thick Client?

Our customer has Domino 8.0.2 and per ATAC, the Lotus Notes client version for 8.0.2 isn't supported below MM 5.1.
This customer does not want to upgrade their MM to 5.1 and roll out the client until we talk to a few customers who have successfully implemented such a system.
Do you have any customers using Domino 8.X and MM 5.1 that we could contact?

No but why don't you just download the client for 5.1 and deploy it. I know that it will work no matter what Tac told you.

The problem with that is they won't be able to download the MM 5.1 client without having an entitlement to it (unless that particular software is available without an entitlement needed).
