MM 5.2 on Exchange 2010 parallel to MM 4.1 on Exchange 2003

I have a client on MM 4.0 with Exchange 2003 in production. I am installing/upgrading to a new MM 5.2 S8800 to exchange 2010. I am installing parallel and we are migrating users 1 by 1. My question. I am using the same service account and permissions account. Can i install this on new MAS's in a different VMD to exchange 2010 and not affect the existing production MM? I assume yes as long as the VMD's for 4.0 and 5.2 are different. Also since the Peer Exchange server is completely different i don't see any issues - does anyone know otherwise?

that would work as long as the requirements for MM 5.2 with Exchange 2010 are in place (permissions). I'm assuming you are changing them to 5.2 before you are moving their mailboxes to Exchange 2010. Also you need to make sure to update your schema for 5.2. The only real change from 4.0's schema changes is the capacity change for an attribute MM uses will be increased for MM 5.2.

I hope you have a certified Avaya partner involved as these types of migrations can get sticky.
