Have a MM 2.0, and just used the manual backup feature on the MSS to backup to DVD-RAM..

Question is, does it do this automatically every morning at 3:00am? Also, does it only back up to a DVD-RAM disk and not a network drive?

Also, what is the preferred way to backup information on the MAS. I have read over the docs, and haven't found much information besides it saying back-up is done with scheduled tasks.

Any info would be great!

If the dvd is in the drive it will back it up every night. You can backup using ftp to a share only in 3.0 and higher

Nice..

Anything on the MAS side I need to backup? What would be the best way to do that?

The MAS backs up to the MSS at 10:00 PM every night and then gets backedup on the MSS backup.

Ken is correct. The MAS backup is accomplished using a "Scheduled Task". The procedure is in the documentation for 2.0. Most MAS desktops have an icon "Scheduled Tasks" that can be opened. Once there, RH click the MAS backup and select Run. This will "run" a backup as soon as you click it. It normally doesn't take long to complete, but does depend upon just exactly how much 'data' it is backing up to the MSS. This is referred to as an ATTENDED backup, whereas the scheduled backup at O'dark:30 in the morning is an UNATTENDED backup.

Question about this again.. Is there anything NOT backed up.. If we were to do a system restore, what would I be missing from these backups.

The system software is not backed up but all of the greetings messages and settings are
