MLX20L and the Merlin II

Can I use a MLX-20L to program an old Merlin II and if not what phone can I use? I tried to get into it using SPM but I cannot seem to gain access. Is it possible that the programming port is bad or shut off?

Merlin II does not have an interface for MLX Phones (as in MLX-20L)

SPM works with LEGEND/MAGIX only, not Merlin II.

A 34 Button Set can be used with MERLIN II, if you have the BOOK to figure out how to do it.

In the past 5 years, each and every time I have encountered a MERLIN II, I have been successful in upgrading the Client to a LEGEND. It was an easy sell, once I explained the benefits of the upgrade.

Such an upgrade provides the ability to have INTEGRATED VOICE MAIL, REMOTE PROGRAMMING, and other neat stuff.

-AND- Such upgrades are cheap and easy.

Bottom line, DITCH THE MERLIN II, and upgrade it to a LEGEND RELEASE 7.

Not to mention, down the road, you can migrate them to the better, more feature rich MLX style phones.

On the Merlin II console, slide the t/p switch on the left side of the console, to the P or program position, press conference twice, you now are in the programming mode and it is menu driven. Good luck. A Merlin II console is not just a 34 button set, and it depends on which release of Merlin II you have whether or not you can use a 34, I believe. R3 was the last, and it required the huge console.
