We have an MLX20-LD in the system that, when voice paged, does not recognise that the phone is in use and just blasts away rather than doing the abreviated ring thing, as do our 44xx phones. Is there a setting to fix that?
Where in system programing do I go to enable the voice announce on idle. I see the code *130 in docs but not a feature check in wimspm. Where do I set it or does it need a feature button on the phone?
You turn the feature on or off by using an SA Voice or Intercom key. It is programmed the same way you change line ringing from I to no ring, etc. It is considered a "setting" not a button function.
I believe from SPM you would use Centralized Programming to do it.
ALL answers to this question are correct, but they fail to point out one very important point.
First, some history:
From day 1 of the first implementation of Legend (R1) we in Tech Support started receiving TONS OF COMPLAINTS of the very issue you posted.
It was my job to "Escalate" such things to my contacts at BELL LABS.
Their 1st response was; "Working as designed".
Remember, we encountered this with R1.
Then, R2, R3, R4, R5 and R6.
But, don't get me wrong, I HAMMERED THEM ON THIS ALL ALONG.
Then, one day, a MIRACLE HAPPENED.....
They called me and said, "We now have some money available to work on that Voice Announce thing you've been complaining about. How do you want it to work?"
So now I can tell you the REST OF THE STORY, Release 7 of the Legend, and ALL RELEASES of the Magix have the VOICE ANNOUNCE TO IDLE that I designed.
But the bottom line is, if you don't have an R7 or a Magix, you do not have that feature.
Thanks Merlinman for clarifying that. The document I read was the R7.0 stuff and it said only R7.0 had the Voice Announce on Idle feature. I did not go thru the Magix stuff.
It would have been nice if they had asked you about "fixing" the PRI capabilities back then also. But that is now water under the bridge...
