No, but like everythng else ther is a sneaky way around it. The Merlin defaults to programming on port 1 of the first cabinet, which is where your operator phone probably is now. Set up another port for this operator on port 1 or 5 of any other MLX card. Jack the previous programming port to a "secret" location, then when you want to program, move the MLX-20L to that location.
Thanks, that sounds like it will solve the issue. You stated the Merlin defaults to programming on port 1 of the first cabinet. Is it possible to leave the "operator" on the same port (port 1 / slot 1) and change the default programming port?
I have the night service set up on time control. The night service manual button is enabled on the MLX20L phone. If I bump the system programming to another port, will it have any effect on the night service control feature on the existing phone?
You don't have to keep a 20-L on the programming port for "normal" operation, only for programming. So, move your programming port to #02, keep #01 as your operator with the 20-L. When you need to program, unplug the 20-L from its jack and move it to the programming extension, do your programming, then put it back when you're done.
Or, use WinSPM for all your programming, and move the programming port to a non-20-L extension.
