I have a Merlin Legend system Release 6 version 10.0, hybrid mode.

An MLX-20 is on ext. 11. It will not go into programming mode. I hit menu, then more, it just beeps.

It used to work, but has not for about 6 months. I can program with WinSPM, but I would like to restore the programming capability to the console.

Any suggestions?

You have moved the phone from the programming port which is "probably" extension 10, - first port on the first MLX card.

I wish it was that simple. I just checked, and ext 11 is connected to port 01 on the first MLX card. On the programming screen it shows extension 11, logical port 1.

Any other suggestions?

The programming port is default at ext 10. You can change the programming port to 11.
from ext 10----system-sprog port-drop-enter ext no.-enter-exit
from winspm--F1-F2-ALT P- type ext no.-F10-F5.

If you don't kow where the programming port is, then you'll have to either use the WinSPM software to find it on a system setup printout, or successively plug in the MLX-20 into the lower ports on the first card to try to find it. I'd do it at the switch location so you don't have towalk around so much. When the MLX-20 allows you to program, you've found the programming port. Once the programming port is set, say to ext 10, if that ext is then renumbered to 20, the programming port is now ext 20, but the same physical location on the switch.
