I'm setting up a new Merlin Legend system. Board renumbered, set dial plan. MLX-20L and MLX-10DP are connected to 008-MLX. MLX-20L works fine. Only other phone on hand now is MLX-10DP. Speaker phone on MLX-10DP works fine, but volume is handset is so low as to be unusable.

Did the following:
Volume up/down button while using handset. It gets lower, but not louder.

Volume up/down button while using speakerphone works properly.

Swapped: handsets, handset cord, station cable, slot in 008.
Problem follows MLX-10DP phone.

Until I get another MLX-10DP, does anyone have any ideas about what could be wrong other than a bad phone? Is there a 'hidden' volume control somewhere?

Thanks for any help!

Negative on hidden Volume Control.

I do beleive you have a bad set.

Try grabbing it on the TOP with one hand, on the Bottom with the other and actually attempt to TWIST it a bit.

There is a "FLEX BOARD" within the phone that has VIRTURALLY all electronics on it, and this may or may not help (or hender) the phones operation until you can get another.

Good Luck !

Most 10DPs DO NOT use the flex circuits that the old MLX-10Ds did.
My guess would be a bad capacitor.
Good luck!

PS: on the phones that do use the flex circuits, I have found that hitting the telephone on the side works better than the "twist" method.
