MLX-10 not detected

I have a Merlin Legend system, and have just purchased an MLX-10 phone to replace a phone that was broken. When I connect the new phone, nothing works. In WinSpm, no phone is detected on that port. An HFAI 10 is recoginzed as an ATL-10.

I have tried other cables to make sure it is not a bad cord.

Any suggestions?

What type of phone was broken that is being replaced? Was this an MLX set or an ATL set? You will not be able to replace an ATL phone with an MLX set because of the different protocols used. If you want to use the MLX set at that particular voice jack, cross connect it to an MLX module port.

So do I need to go into cent progamming and renumber to set this up, I get a dialtone on the MLX phone when I connect it to port %2 instead of port #28

You need to connect it to a port on a MLX card, not an ATL card. The ATL cards will not support MLX phones and vice versa.

I have done that, now I just need to renumber that port, correct? Change the old port #28 to something else, then change port #2 to 32? is that correct?
