Can someone describe the differences in MLT, DMLT, SMLT? The Nortel site's search engine is terrible about actually delivering informational topics. One huge vote I give to Cisco is their web site augments far better use for information research, config samples, and software/ IOS downloads.

Hi,

Here we go:

MLT > Multi Link Trunk. Also known as link aggregation simply linking multiple physical interface as 1 logical link.
SMLT > Split Multi Linl Trunk. This is the same as a MLT but with the added Nortel propriritary; IST (Inter Switch Trunk). This is the same technique as MLT however know it is connected to 2 physically routerswitches, which are represented as 1 logical. The benefit of SMLT above MLT is the exclusion of a singlepint of faulure (1 of the 2 routerswitches).
DMLT > Distributed Multi Link Trunk. Basically it it the same as a MLT but this setup provides the exclusion of module failure by separating the MLT links on different switch modules, whereas a MLT connect to the same module.

I hope this information helps you to understand it better.
However these setups are explained by Nortel on their website. You can also try google and find Nortel's 'IST' and it is even better than my explanation of it :)

Regards

I'd second the vote for using Google to search Nortel's web site - their built-in search tool is basically worthless. Another document to look for is the Converged Campus Solutions Guide, which has lots of examples and best-practices.
