Hello,

This is really related to Partner systems, question is in last paragraph. Sorry for being long winded, appreciate any help.

Have a Partner ACS5, connected to a Valcom V-2006A. Paging quality is great from an office. From the warehouse floor (very noisy), it's horrible. Installed a V9964, digital feedback elimanter. Feedback is gone, but paging sound quality from the warehouse floor is still poor.

Different warehouse, have 70 volt paging system, still very noisy, and phone system is an antique Nortel Vantage. Paging quality is fine. One other difference between warehouses is the problem warehouse is cinder block construction, with wood arched wood ceiling whereas good paging quality warehouse is larger, with fiberglass insualtion batts (covered with plastic) on walls and ceiling. I would figure the plastic covering the fiberglass insualtion would nullify any sound deadning qualities of the insualtion, but perhaps I am wrong.

Valcom says the issue is with the handset quality. I can see where they say that, given the paging from enclosed office sounds fine. I have also considered the possiblity of extension cable picking up noise. Does anybody have any comments or suggestions?

Thanks in advance,

Jeff

try it with a 2500 set

or several diffrent phones and see if their is a change

You'd need to say more about the poor quality you are experiencing. Is it low volume? Noise (what kind?) static? Poor frequency response?

Since Partner allows use of standard T/R accessories, you can take a known-good regular telephone ( such as a well-built Western Electric 2500 desk set) and plug it into the AUX jack on the bottom of any Partner phone. Use the regular telephone to place the page, and compare quality. Does that resolve the problem?

Unfortunately if you are going to to make a page from a phone in a high ambient noise area the noise is going to be picked up along with the voice. I doubt that any handset is any better than another in this respect.

Jlshelton, thanks! Valcom recomended this as a possible fix. Sure looks like it might solve the problem.

I didn't explain the quality problem, sorry. The page sounds noisy, you can hear the warehouse noise which can overwhelm the person's voice who is paging. Feedback has been elimanted with a Valcom 9964, a record then page system.

Skip and Jlshelton, testing with a real 2500 is going to happen tomorrow. The phones are MLS, but I will just reprogram the extension, and try the 2500.

Thanks for the ideas, and the link to the "Confidencer".

If the warehouse with the antique Nortel Vantage system is ever upgraded, this is sure a lesson to check the paging system with the phone they proposed. Hmmm, would be fun to set up a spare MLS on a old Partner system, and plug in the paging system. I am very curious what that would sound like, is there a significant difference in sound between warehouses.

Thanks, thanks, thanks...

Jeff

Just amazed at the difference between the sound from the

if its ambient noise another thing you can try is taking a rag or maybe some toilet paper and put it over the tranmitter and see if that improves the quality

No, No, No! As we all know from TV, using a rag changes your voice to that so different, the other party won't recognize it at all! (Sophisticated electronics are not necessary, just a rag.)
