hello all,

i'm trying to compare MultiLoad and TPump... found that MultiLoad is faster than TPump.... apart from TPump allowing us to load data into tables with referential integrity which MultiLoad doesn't do is there any difference between these tools... i'm trying to populate a table from file in vartext format with a delimiter and used both Mload and Tpump for that purpose... Multiload takes approx 1min whereas Tpump takes approx 7 mins....

thanks

(TUF) Release Summary
TUF 06.00.01

TPump Utility 2
The Teradata Parallel Data Pump (TPump) utility performs minor DML transactions throughout the day concurrently with query access to the data. This utility is targeted for small updates performed on large tables where Teradata MultiLoad’s economies of scales do not pay off, or in an environment where a site needs to update many small tables.

This is difficult to accomplish with other load utilities since they only run at “ full speed” and have a large impact on query processing.

TPump is allows continuous updating of a table (or tables) while queries are being performed on the table, and unlike MultiLoad the updates are available for querying immediately, rather than being applied in a single batch.
