Hi Folks, I haven't been here for a few months..., this one baffled me ...

Scenario:
Customer has Legend R7 w/ mlm007.
Customer goes out of Biz. System was in PBX mode.
Customer starts new Biz, but wants it in KEY Mode.
Key mode enabled, been using happily since 2006.
Now wants OUCALLING to be active. The vmail ports of course during original install/PBX mode were set to ARS restriction 0.

Now with the system in Key mode, ARS restrictions are not available, and the EXT DIR report show the vmail ports ARS Restriction is in fact 0.
How, or can these 6 vmail ports have the ARS restriction of 0 changed while in the Key mode? Peek & a Hexadicimal Change maybe?

I was just wondering, short of setting it back to PBX mode etc. etc ..

You need to assign the lines to the vm port extensions (set to no ring). Then, program those extensions to pickup the outside line when dialing out through automatic line select. It does open your system up, but it is the only way I've done this in key mode. When you program the outcalling number, remember that you shouldn't need a "9" if you have them accessing the lines for outbound dialing.

In doing it the way suggested, how are Message Lights going to be lit and extinguished?

If the VM ports don't have access to the intercom, then I don't see that happening.

The only way I have been able to resolve this was to set it up in what we called "CUSTOM SQUARE" mode.

That is, you set it up in Hybrid-PBX mode but only put 1 line in the 70 pool.

Then, assign all the lines to the extensions, thus it looks like it is squared.

This will allow the VM Ports to do out calling (once properly "unrestricted").

The caveat is that the users of the phone system will have to either place that one line on hold or transfer it when a call comes in on it.

Assign the lines to the VM ports, set them to NO RING so that they don't start answering incoming calls the wrong way, then set the Auto Line Select to pick the Intercom, then the lines. Just like a Single Line phone on a Tip/Ring card when in Key Mode.

Yes, but as Merlinman mentioned, if you assign an analog port to pickup an outside line, you DONT get internal dialtone, you get a CO Line. That also as MM mentions, would trash the port setting MW lamps. You could , OO I see Tommy mentions it, set to choose intercom first..

I was going to end up doing a "Hybrid squard" anyway if there was NOT a way to gain access to the ARS restriction that's currently 0. So, Original question, can the vmail ports ARS restriction be set to another level even tho system is in Key mode? Anyone know the Peek/Hex address where that may be?

TTT & MM ... Thank you! I'll give it a shot that way, seems it should work. If not, Off to the Hybrid Mode they go!! I too thought I tried something like that a few years ago, ended up hybrid as well I believe.
(Everyone say BOOOOOO to Key Mode!)

TTT is right (and I was wrong above), I have set this up before to grab intercom first in auto-line select and then the lines. Then program the outcalling to have the "9" so it grabs the outside line for outcalling. For message lights, it still grabs the intercom dialtone first.

It's been awhile and I knew I had done it before, I was mistaken in trying to select a line first.
