We just installed a customer provided Legend R7, 3-408ls/gs, And a MLM007. We have 7 lines going to the main AA and we need to know if there is a way to get extension 24 to "Own" line 8. We usually work on partners and occasionally a magix with a merlin mail, but it has been a long time for a MLM. We know there is a line ownership in partner, and what we are wanting to know is, does the legend have a way to do that. Another question, does the MLM differ in programming from the Merlin mail in how to program night mode to answer differently, like immediately instead of 5 rings like in the day. if so, how do you do it. Thanks for any help.

When you say you want ext 24 to "own" line 8 - do you want the line to ONLY appear on ext 24 like a private line? - and not be available to anyone else to use? If so - you would remove Line 808 from your pool or from the other phones - and only assign it to extention 24. If ext 24 is covered by voicemail - incomming calls on that lkine would ring at ext 24, and after 5 rings flow to ext 24's voicemailbox - not the AA.

As for programming the 007 - yes - the programming is the same as for the older Merlin Mail. To get the AA to answer immediately after hours - you need to setup Night Service in system programming and program a "Night Service" toggle button on the operator phone. When settingup Night Service - assign your voicemail calling group (usually 770) to it as well as the lines (801 thru whatever) to Night Service. Once Night Service is activated by the button - all calls will flow to the AA Night Menu immediately vs. the 5 ring delay during the day.

Ok, To clarify since it was lacking a little info, Extensions 23 and 24 are extensions in the paint department in a lumber yard and there is a number that u call that rings just those 2 extensions. Only one of them has a voice mail box. The 7 other lines also appear at those phones and ring on incoming calls. But line 8 only rings there, not anywhere else.A partner would have been perfect for this company because the line ownership would have let that line ring anywhere but go to that mailbox only, but there was a branch of the company that closed somewhere else and they decided to save some money and use this system. Hopefully that clarified what u needed and we will have to work on the night to make sure its entered correctly. Thanks for the help.

If line 808 is only assigned to extentions 23 and 24 - it will only ring on those two extentions. If ext 24 has a mailbox - and the ringing line is not answered - it should flow to the mailbox for ext 24. They can make the greeting for the ext 24 mailbox generic for the paint department.

A different option would be to use the 2nd autoattendant for the Paint Dept by assigning only line 808 to it. Then you could have a day and night menu for the Paint Dept - seperate from the rest of the company.

Thanks, that helped out a lot. I thought that it should be able to work like you were saying that if it has a mailbox, it will go to it in the number of rings that is set. We will program it and try it. You are so much help here, as is everyone else that answers anyones questions. It is a wonderful help to those that just cant think of how to do things.

No - not if the line is only assigned to that extention - and the extention is covered by voicemail. It becomes more like a private line. My understanding of "principal owner" - is that the line will not go to Voicemail coverage - when so designated - but will just ring "ad nauseum" - if not answered.

I would use "Principle Owner".

That is the equivalent to the the PARTNER'S LINE OWNERSHIP.

Right, my question is, if the trunk is on 2 extensions, how does the system know which vmail to go to, w/o Principal owner...

If you don't assign a Principal Owner, it will go to the mailbox of the lowest logical ID that has the line assigned AND has voice mail coverage.
