We have been having problems with out ML530 server. It seems that's peaking the processor around mid morning, then after reboot it is fine. then the problem resurfaces. Help! any solutions?

well for starters I'm running winnt 4.0 server, and this is the PDC and fille server. Is there anything else you need to know?

More Info:

The process that keeps bogging up the server is the SYSTEM process. Messages have indicated that the server is slowly running out of space. This is probably the root of the problem but we need to do some more analysis before this can be confirmed. I noticed there were several redirector sessions hung at or about the same time the system becomes sluggish. The ML530 is not indicating any hardware problems. Also some network sniffing was done, but packets seemed to be reaching their destinations fine. Intrusions and viruses were also ruled out. We have noticed that the disk is approximately 75% fragmented and defragmentation is not possible due to free space.

hmmm, if it is not that much data: take full backup , wipe disks and restore (also scores good as disaster recovery test :) )
75% fragmented is a lot....

We have solved the problem. We uninstalled Norton Utilities and Norton AV, then reinstalled Norton AV and did the updates along with the SYMEVENT. No problems since.
