I have a problem with a Seagate disk ST39251LC as "replacement" of the original Compaq drives in a ML370 Compaq server with a integrated smart array controller and using the standard Compaq tools to configure the drive as Compaq Array Configuration Utility.
The actual configuration is a RAID 5 with 3 original Compaq drives 9,1GB hot-plug WU3 10K 1"(142671-B22). The intention is to add one drive in RAID 0.
If a Seagate disk is added , there is a mismatch between the configuration detected by the Compaq array utility and the operating system.
The issue is that in the array configuration utility only one logical drive is created, nevertheless Windows NT4 disk administrator detects two new logical drives !
One drive is accessible, the other not. This situation is very confusing and not acceptable. It seems that the Seagate drive has been detected two times.
Adding an original Compaq disk in the same configuration, using the same tools, works fine as shown in the pictures below. One of the main differences between the two drives is the Compaq firmware.

Hi,

Did Compaq send you the replacement drive? Did they send you the correct drive? They have screwed up before and will again.
