Hi can anyone please tell me if a MKSYSB image will contain software installed on the rootvg or will I have to reinstall software etc. Managment is trying to tell us to use a mksysb instead of a product called ERRM
thanks

A mksysb will contain all software and mount points that exist within rootvg. If you use the mksysb to build a new system, you may need to relicense any 3rd party applications that were part of rootvg.

If you applications that are installed in other volume groups, you will need to use the appropriate tools to backup/restore.

Add a little color to your PUTTY terminal: faq52-6627

sbrews is right.

Just to add to his comment. Try to review the file (if exists) /etc/exclude.rootvg which include files that should be excluded from a mksysb backup.

This file will be read only if you are using the -e option in your mksysb command.

Regards,
Khalid
