It is definately possible to mksysb to remote drives or FS's, although you will get a message complaining that it won't be bootable ( because it's remote media ).

Lags

Why not do your mksysb to a file then move the file to your control workstation then to tape? Says the Manager to the person that invented the modem: "Tell me again why you need two prototypes?!?"

Dear Slgordon

u didnt undrestand my problem.
c mksysb on local tapedrive nmakes the tape a bootable .from which u can restore ur os in case of any crash.
if i take a mksysb on some remote fs (that u can always do)
and then on to the tape ...will it be a bootable tape??

or will it serve my purpose of taking mksysb.

do u hav any idea bout restoring image on node from control workstation???

i hav taken the mksysb of nodes on controlworkstation by mounting the cws fs remotly on nodes.

thanks

Elgis,

I don't understand why that suggestion wouldn't work -- if you mksysb to a disk file and then dd that file to a tape -- why wouldn't that tape be bootable? Mike
