Hello,
I have two servers running with same OS level 5.3. I have to install mksysb image of second server and install it on first server keeping the additional volume groups as they are . These servers are booting with SAN disk and have some SAN disks for extra volume group.
First server has one extra volume group beside rootvg , I have backed up this volume group and saved on a different machine.
What is the procedure to perform this installation with out any issues?
I was thinking of exporting extra volume group on firt server, then install the mksysb image of second server using NIM, then once the box is up then import the extra volume group. Is this procedure workout? Any suggestions/Ideas?

Thanks

I hope i understood you right but i think all you have to do is to take the mksysb of the first machine and restore it on the second machine without even backing up the other vgs as long as you choose the disks for rootvg correctly!

To be honest, i haven't done that before but in theory, it should work!
