backup: A file or directory in the path name does not exist.

0512-005 mksysb: Backup Completed.
The backup command completed with errors.
The messages displayed on Standard Error contained additional
information.

Any thoughts ?

I have received this error when, for example, someone opens a file, mksysb sees the temporary backup file that vi will create. Then the person closes the file and the temporary file isn't there anymore for mksysb to back up. I seem to remember the file that can't be found being named, though, which I don't see in your output.

Just a file (temp or not) being deleted or moved during the mksysb.

Not the case. I had a mksysb in single-user mode. An SP-attached Regatta LPAR.

The mksysb was complaining about something under SPlogs.

nobody on the system but me.
