MKsysb error

Hello all,

When we try to run a mksysb to a 4MM tape we are receiving this error:

Creating tape boot image.....................
0512-016 mksysb: Attempt to create a bootable tape failed:
bosboot -d /dev/rmt0.1 -a failed with return code 48.

Any ideas on what is causing this?

Can you write/read to and from the tape? How did you try to make the mksysb? Did you check your error report for any other errors related to the tape drive?

Did you issue:

#mksysb -i /dev/rmt0

or did you go through smit menus?

Just trying to gather more clues from you about what happened to get a better picture in my head.

Well it took us about three different tapes, but the mksysb finally worked. Thanks for all the help.
